Not a runner? Not a problem! This is a virtual family fun run, which means you run/walk at your own pace, whenever and wherever you want. We have chosen to begin this journey as a virtual 5K with hopes to bring communities together throughout the United States, more importantly to show the men and women who selflessly serve our communities just how appreciated they are for what they do! One big goal is to have all 50 states participate. I Got Your Six is a North Carolina based organization; however, it would be amazing to travel across the country spreading random acts of kindness, but that all starts with making connections through events/communication.
What is a virtual 5K? A virtual 5K is similar to the original idea of a 5K, with the exceptions of you timing yourself and running/walking at your own pace wherever you feel the most comfortable! I (Janie) personally like to use the Stava app or my Apple Watch "Outdoor Run" feature, but there are so many more options! Please keep in mind this is not an officially timed race, so there will not be place prices awarded; however, there will be a chance to win some new I Got Your Six merchandise!!
The Beneficiary: The You Are Not Forgotten Fund is a fund the organization has created that will be used to assist law enforcement officers and their families should a disaster unexpectedly strike and change their lives. All proceeds from the 5K will go into this fund and in addition, moving forward 25% of all merchandise sales from the shop will go into this fund as well! If there is a law enforcement family in need that you would like to be touched by this fund, please connect with us and provide some details.
What do you get? Included in your price is an exclusive "You Are Not Forgotten" t-shirt, a race snack, electrolyte water enhancer, an IGY6 car coaster and our sponsor promotions. All race packets will be mailed out by May 28 at the latest with hopes that it gets to you by race day, so with that please do not delay registering! Registration will begin Sunday, April 17 and will end May 22. If you are local to the Raleigh area and would like to meet up with a group of people to run/walk, there will be a group meeting at Lake Benson Park around 8:30am to begin their race at 9:00am.
